Louis Rosenthall has possessed a desire to help other people since he was young. He comes from a family of nurses, and has seen how hard nurses work to make a positive difference. By the time Louis was a freshman in high school, he knew that he wanted to be a part of that legacy. Louis has experienced the strong community found within his major since entering the University of Maine. He explains that the program encourages unity among the students. And as a result, Louis and the other students have succeeded through their challenges, as they all support and encourage each other.
Louis received the 2021/2022 Gene S. Cranch Nursing School Scholarship, which he says took pressure off of having to “worry about the cost of school and the rigorous demands of the major.” He is grateful for the generosity of others, and hopes that one day he can pay it forward.
