Data & Reporting Analyst - Orono, Maine

Description
The Data & Reporting Analyst is responsible for ensuring data integrity and reporting and presenting data. The role involves creating reports and resources to support data-driven decisions and fundraising efforts, maintaining reporting systems, and analyzing data from the University of Maine’s advancement database.
- Creates, executes, and delivers reports to internal staff and the broader campus community.
- Develops analytical products, such as dashboards, interactive reports, and summary reports, to support and enhance fundraising efforts.
- Identifies and implements data integrity initiatives that support the needs of the stewardship and gift processing offices and other internal stakeholders.
- Conducts in-depth data analysis to identify key insights and provides strategic recommendations to the Manager of Programming & Reporting on priority areas for the team’s focus.
- Oversees the maintenance and optimization of ancillary third-party systems, including the giving platform, email marketing tools, and related systems.
- Assists with maintenance and quality control of biographical and gift data, ensuring accuracy and integrity across records.
- Executes preparing and integrating data loads, including merging and appending data into the database.
- Enhances customer service by effectively communicating, translating, and clarifying complex data scenarios for fundraising staff and the campus community.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Minimum of five years of demonstrated experience working with and reporting of visualization data from a relational database or equivalent academic coursework. This typically includes a working knowledge of SQL or a similar query language.
Preferred Skills
- Proficiency with contemporary data visualization and presentation tools, such as Tableau, Looker Studio, Power BI, and similar platforms.
- Experience with Salesforce or other modern CRM fundraising databases.
- Experience with nonprofit fundraising practices, including familiarity with related databases and data models.
Office Presence
The successful candidate must work fully on-site during the onboarding period. Afterward, the role will maintain a regular in-office presence, with the potential for partial remote work during the week.

Description
The Data & Training Specialist is responsible for generating reports, creating resources, and providing training and support for users of the advancement database with the University of Maine System community. Through work with the campus community, this position advocates for the best possible use of the CRM software and for the value the Foundation and the software provide.
- Creates regular and ad-hoc reports to support fundraising initiatives.
- Collaborates with the data team to triage report requests, develop strategies, and ensure consistent and efficient outputs.
- Assists with ongoing projects related to data integrity, cleaning, and appends within the advancement database.
- Collaborates with other Foundation teams to consult on policies, procedures, and reports to optimize the use of the database for all constituencies.
- Develops, organizes, and conducts training workshops and one-on-one sessions on software navigation, data entry protocols, and best practices for new and existing users.
- Creates and updates training materials to include step-by-step guides, video tutorials, and FAQs to support a wide range of new and existing users to reference independently.
- Serves as the primary point of contact to provide ongoing support to new and existing database users within the University of Maine System community. Handles access requests and coordinates with UMS-IT staff to create and update user accounts.
- Monitors trends and developments in database enhancements and associated software.
Requirements
