James GaytonJames Gayton is from Sabattus, Me., and has been studying mechanical engineering at the University of Maine. This year, James received the Daniel Williams Smilgys ’84 Memorial Scholarship and the Robert W. and Brenda M. Daigle Scholarship. James is the fourth in a family of six children, and is attending school with no financial aid, other than scholarships.

“I chose the University of Maine because of the great Engineering programs they offer. I plan on getting my degree in Mechanical Engineering and using that to go into the Aerospace industry. I have always been fascinated by space and would love to be on the cutting edge of technology used to explore it. Scholarships helped me immensely this semester. I have been unsure of whether or not I would be able to attend school this semester but thanks to your scholarship support, I can continue my education at UMaine.

I can’t begin to express my gratitude for your help in continuing my education. Thank you so much for your help.”
