Dr. Jeffery N. Mills has served as President/CEO of the University of Maine Foundation, an independent 501(c)(3) organization since July 1, 2012. A native of Bryant Pond in western Maine, Jeff was pleased to return to Maine and his alma mater. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Maine, his master’s and Ph.D. degrees from Arizona State University, and his certificate in nonprofit leadership from the Harvard Kennedy School. He is an Adjunct Faculty Member of the Maine Business School. Mills served as the Vice President of Advancement at the University of Maine, Director of Constituent Relations at Arizona State University, President/CEO of the University of Maine Alumni Association, and Vice President of Advancement at Monmouth University in New Jersey. The University of Maine Foundation has been responsible for completing the $200 million Vision for Tomorrow campaign, the largest fundraising campaign in the University of Maine System’s history. He has twice been recognized nationally by the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE). Most recently, he received the 2022 CASE Commonfund College and University Foundation Award. This prestigious award recognizes professionals who have made extraordinary contributions to the advancement, quality, and effectiveness of their foundations and the sector. Previously, he and his team at Monmouth University in New Jersey received the CASE award for most improved educational fundraising. For five terms, Jeff served in the Maine State Senate and House of Representatives.

SARAH MCPARTLAND-GOOD
Foundation General Counsel
Sarah McPartland-Good, Esq. is the Foundation General Counsel at the University of Maine Foundation in Orono, where she has worked for twenty-one years to help University of Maine alumni and friends and their counsel to establish endowed funds to support UMaine students through bequests, charitable gift annuities, charitable remainder trusts and other planned gifts. She is a member of the Maine bar and an inactive member of the New Hampshire bar. A former Board Secretary for the Maine Planned Giving Council, she served as the Chair of the Grievance Commission of the Maine Board of Overseers of the Bar and was appointed by the Maine Supreme Judicial Court as a trustee for the Lawyer’s Fund for Client Protection.

KEVIN FRAZIER
Chief Financial Officer
Kevin is a CPA and joined the Foundation in 1996 following a 12-year career in public accounting. As Chief Financial Officer, he sees firsthand how much the University of Maine means to its alumni, friends, community, and our State by the many, many generous gifts received at the Foundation. Kevin has three children including two UMaine grads and truly appreciates the education and opportunity resulting from attending the University of Maine. Kevin raised his family in Bangor but now lives in Hermon with his wife Kathy.

Monique ’91 joined the Foundation in 2013. Her previous advancement work was at the University of Maine as Director of Marketing and a member of the Advancement Cabinet. Her team at the Foundation is responsible for marketing, event management, and annual fundraising. Monique is a member of the University of Maine President’s Club.

ELIZABETH ERICKSON
Senior Director of Philanthropy
Liz has worked as a fundraising professional for nearly thirty years, including nine years at The Jackson Laboratory in Bar Harbor. Currently, Liz’s primary responsibility is to garner support for the College of Earth, Life, and Health Sciences, including social work, communication sciences and disorders, earth and climate sciences, economics, biology and ecology, molecular and biomedical sciences, marine sciences, ecology and environmental sciences, and wildlife, in addition to forestry and agriculture. Liz also works with donors interested in UMaine’s research farms, e.g., Witter, and associated gardens like the Littlefield Garden or the Hyland Arboretum. Liz did her undergraduate work at the University of Virginia and holds a Master’s of Divinity degree from Andover Newton Theological School. Liz lives on Mt. Desert Island with her husband.

MATT MULLEN
Associate Director
Matt, a third generation UMaine alum, received his degree in History and Education. In his role as philanthropy officer, he focuses primarily on the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, working most closely with the Dean of the College. Formerly the director of parent giving and programs at Colby College, over the course of nine years, he worked with parents and supporters of athletics. Previously, Matt worked with the Natural Resources Council of Maine (NRCM) and Sidwell Friends School in a variety of advancement positions.

JOE LIGHT
Associate Director
Joe earned his undergraduate degree in 2004, and his MBA in 2021, from the Maine Business School. He is a third generation Black Bear. He has been a Philanthropy Officer with the UMaine Foundation for nine years, primarily supporting Student Life and the Athletics Department. Joe lives in Bangor with his wife Aimee, also a UMaine alum, and their children.

KAREN KEMBLE
Associate Director of Planned Giving
Karen Kemble ’21P joined the University of Maine Foundation in 2015. Karen works with individuals who wish to support UMaine by making planned gifts such as charitable bequests in their wills/trusts or other planning documents, donating real estate or other property, or creating life-income gifts. She also works with professional advisors whose clients wish to support UMaine. In her former life, Karen worked in the private practice of law in Bangor for ten years and handled equal opportunity issues for the University of Maine as the director of the Office of Equal Opportunity. Karen grew up in Chesterville, a small town in western Maine. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Bates College where she played field hockey and was on the Nordic ski team. She went on to earn her law degree from Cornell Law School. She married her high-school sweetheart, Jay (UMaine ’87, ’95G). Karen and Jay have two children: Peter (UMaine Class of ’21) and Anna. When Karen isn’t working, she enjoys the outdoors and doing any activities that involve her family.

DIANE WOODWORTH
Philanthropy Officer
Diane joined the University of Maine Development Office in 2014 as a philanthropy officer and transitioned to the University of Maine Foundation in 2016. She works primarily with the College of Engineering (COE) traveling throughout the United States to promote UMaine and COE initiatives to alumni and friends. Diane earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Maine at Augusta and did graduate work at Saint Michaels College in Colchester, Vermont. She has spent her entire career working in philanthropy for nonprofit organizations throughout northern New England. Diane currently resides in Hermon, Maine and enjoys travel, the outdoors, and photography.

Nancy Chute began working at the Foundation in 1993 when it was located on Columbia Street in downtown Bangor. Although Nancy retired from full-time work in June 2024, she continued to help out in the office two days a week.

Terri Libby provides administrative support for the Foundation General Counsel and the planned giving officers, as well as offers a friendly voice to greet visitors. She started at the Foundation 14 years ago, after working for the Department of Wildlife Ecology at the University of Maine. After several years in California, she returned to her home state of Maine with her two children to settle down. “Working in the beautiful Buchanan Alumni House with people who really care about others makes it a joy to come to work,” said Terri.
KRISTY HAMILTON

Kristy started at the Foundation in summer of 2018. Prior to her employment here, Kristy worked in mental health field since 2004 in administrative roles as well as one-on-one patient care. In her post here, Kristy works with philanthropy officers and assists other departments as needed. She particularly enjoys the atmosphere at the Foundation, and having the opportunity to assist donors. Kristy currently lives in Carmel with her husband Tim, two kids and her dog.
KEVIN FOSS
Manager of Programming & Reporting
Kevin graduated from UMaine in 1996, majoring in History with a minor in Latin. Before joining the foundation in 2015, he held various IT related positions for both the University and the University of Maine System dating back to 2000. As Manager of Programming & Reporting, Kevin oversees reporting from our donor and alumni database. A lifetime resident of Bangor, he lives with his wife Katie and their cat, Alex.

Manager of Fund Compliance & Stewardship
Holly joined the Foundation in April 2012 as Information Services Associate with prior experience in banking, hospitality, medical, and aquatics. With strong family ties to Maine, she moved to the Bangor area after spending her childhood in Massachusetts. Active in the community, Holly has been involved for many years with area youth music and competitive swim programs as a volunteer and board member. She enjoys a good book, photography, playing piano, anything aquatic, and spending time with her family.
KYLA HARRISON
Manager of Accounting
Kyla is a CPA and joined the Foundation in 2013 and earned her MBA from the University of Maine in May 2018. Born and raised in Maine, Kyla is a graduate of Old Town High School. She spent 8 years in the Marine Corps stationed in Okinawa, Japan, Hawaii and Quantico, Virginia. After being honorably discharged she returned to Maine with her two children and spent 7 years in public accounting specializing in audit and small business tax before joining the staff in the Orono office at the Foundation.

Manager of Prospect Research & Portfolio Management
Katie Lattari ’09 ’11G is the Manager of Research and Data at the UMaine Foundation. Based in the Orono office, Katie oversees all prospect research for the Foundation and contributes to the maintenance of the alumni database. She has worked at UMaine as part of its advancement mission since 2013, and has been with the Foundation since 2015. From 2009-2019, she also intermittently taught and advised in an adjunct capacity in both the English Department and the Honors College at UMaine.

Melinda ’89 coordinates the human resources responsibilities and activities of the organization. Prior to joining the Foundation at their Orono office in 2016, she worked for the University of Maine.
JODI KLIMAS
Research Analyst & Office IT Liaison
Jodi joined the Foundation in 2016 as a Research Assistant, working on a variety of projects for the Research and Data team. In 2018, she moved into the role of Research Analyst and Office IT Liaison, focusing most of her work in Research, and helping staff with IT needs in the office. She has over 20 years of combined experience in the office and in technical support.
BARB LAPLANTE
Annual Giving Data Analyst
Barb joined the Foundation in April 2016 and currently serves as the Annual Giving Data Analyst. Prior to that, she held various positions at the University of Maine.
LIN AUBREY
Data Specialist
Lin joined the Foundation in 2016. As a Data Specialist, her primary focus is on data hygiene to keep our donor and alumni data organized and current. She lives in Bangor with her husband and their two cats.
