Kathryn’s father, Earl Adams ’57, his wife Sheila, and Kathryn’s sister, Susan Adams ’86 established this fund in her memory to provide scholarships to deserving Maine students with financial need.

Bruce and Annemarie Albiston Fund
Bruce ’72 and Annemarie Albiston, founders of the Aphasia Center of Maine, which partners with the University, established this fund to support teaching, research and service for adults with cognitive communication disorders in speech therapy.

Elaine McClay Albright Scholarship*
Elaine Albright ’68, former Dean of Cultural Affairs & Libraries, established this fund to assist Maine students, preferably those whose parents are currently employed at the Fogler Library.

John A. Alexander, Ph.D. Civil and Environmental Engineering Excellence Fund*
John A. Alexander and his wife, Janet, established this fund to enhance the undergraduate student experience in Civil and Environmental Engineering.

Barbara McCarthy Allen ’71 established this fund to provide travel and living expenses to students studying French in a French-speaking country.

Dale Benson ’65G, ’70G and Jolita Benson established this scholarship to assist students majoring in history.

Dr. Stephen A. and Jeanne A. Butterfield Scholarship Fund*
Scott Butterfield ’98 established this fund in honor of his parents. Dr. Stephen Butterfield is Emeritus Professor and former Chair of Kinesiology, Physical Education, and Athletic Training. This fund will assist deserving kinesiology and physical education majors.

Mary R. Cathcart Maine NEW (National Education for Women) Leadership Fund*
This fund was established to honor Mary Cathcart, a longtime public servant in many capacities. This fund will support the Maine NEW Leadership program, which she initiated to educate and empower women to take on civic and political issues.

Thomas “Skip” Chappelle Men’s & Women’s Basketball Scholarship*
Paul Tukey ’83 and Paul Cook ’84 established this fund in honor of former UMaine men’s basketball star and coach, Skip Chappelle. This scholarship will assist Maine students participating in men’s or women’s basketball.

Class of 2003 Scholarship Fund*
Members and friends of the Class of 2003 established this fund to provide scholarships, preferably to descendants of members of the Class of 2003 and/or to graduates of Maine high schools.

Cheryl M. Coffin, M.D. and Ralph E. Topham, M.Ed., LPC/MHSP University of Maine Museum of Art Excellence in Exhibitions Fund*
Cheryl Coffin, M.D. and Ralph Topham, M.Ed., LPC/MHSP established this fund to support the development and presentation of exhibitions, as well as educational programming for “Maine’s Modern and Contemporary Art Museum” at UMMA.

E.H. Marcelle Coffin and Millard F. Coffin, Jr. University of Maine Museum of Art Fund
Longtime friend of the Maine Museum of Art Marcelle Coffin, established this fund with a bequest for educational programs, especially rotating exhibitions and children’s programs at UMMA.

E.H. Marcelle Coffin Men’s Ice Hockey Fund
Marcelle Coffin, a great fan of UMaine men’s ice hockey, established this fund with a bequest to assist students who are participating in the men’s ice hockey program.

Jeffrey Cole Memorial Scholarship Fund
Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity brothers established this fund in Jeff Cole’s memory to assist a sophomore in good standing who is a member of the fraternity.

Collins Center for the Arts Flame of Inspiration Fund
This fund was established to maintain the Flame of Inspiration sculpture at the CCA, which was commissioned as a gift from the Class of 1942 by noted Maine artist/sculptor Clark Fitz-Gerald.

Collins Center for the Arts Theater Outreach Fund*
Established by Lisa Buck & Peter Arabadgis and Emily Cain ’02 & Daniel Williams ’91, ’94G, this fund supports educational outreach for K-12 students, homeschooled students, and UMaine students at the CCA.

Anne A. Collins ’61 Scholarship Fund*
Anne Collins ’61, a former elementary school teacher, established this fund to assist education and human development majors with academic merit, preferably students from Waldo County.

Dana F. Connors Scholarship Fund*
Established by colleagues and friends of Dana Connors ’65, ’15H, this fund supports students, preferably those who exemplify leadership in the areas of political science, public management, or business administration.

Raymond A. Cox Endowment Fund for Leadership Scholarships
Nancy Cox established this fund in memory of her husband, Raymond A. Cox ’53, to provide leadership scholarships to students in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.

Barbara F. Csavinszky Thursday Club Scholarship Fund*
A bequest from Professor Barbara Csavinszky established this fund to assist mature, nontraditional undergraduates with need.

Enid Fletcher Currier Scholarship*
Irene Currier Oldfield ’73 and Jeffrey Oldfield established this fund as a legacy to Enid Currier, who taught school for 47 years in the Somerset County area. This fund will assist Skowhegan area high school graduates majoring in elementary education.

Curry Family Fund*
Richard Curry, Jr. ’69 and Ellen Honan ’78 established this fund in memory of Richard, Sr. and Arline Curry. The fund will assist deserving students participating in the intercollegiate sport of baseball.

Hazel C. Burgess De Siervo Scholarship*
Associate Professor Emeritus of Microbiology August (Gus) De Siervo, Ph.D. established this fund in memory of Hazel De Siervo, his late wife, who had a great love and talent for music. The fund will assist theatre and dance students, preferably those in musicals, operettas and operas.

Liuba Mykytiuk De Siervo Scholarship*
Associate Professor Emeritus of Microbiology August (Gus) De Siervo, Ph.D. established this fund in memory of Liuba De Siervo, his late wife. Liuba was considered a brilliant science student who passed away at age 32. The fund will assist biochemistry, microbiology, or molecular and cellular biology students.

“Echoes of Maine” Humanities Fund*
Former Associate Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and Associate Professor Emerita of Communication and Journalism Kathryn Olmstead established this fund to support the McGillicuddy Humanities Center for program support relating to the Echoes of Maine Philosophy.

Perl V. and Virginia A. Farrington Scholarship Fund
Perl ’51 and Virginia Farrington established this scholarship with a trust to assist Natural Sciences, Forestry, and Agriculture students and/or Business students with a preference (among other preferences) given to students from Bucksport.

First-to-Fourth College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Scholarship
Alumni and friends of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences established this fund to assist first year students with financial need. The scholarship is renewable, provided the student remains in good standing.

Winifred M. Fortier Scholarship Fund*
Anonymous donors established this fund in memory of Winifred Fortier, owner of Lads ‘n Lassies and Ladies clothing store. The scholarship will assist students who demonstrate an entrepreneurial spirit, preferably graduates of Houlton High School.

Michael Fulton ’87 Scholarship Fund**
Michael Fulton established this fund for promising mechanical engineering students from Maine as a way to pay it forward.

Armen Gechijian ’52 Mechanical Engineering Scholarship Fund*
Armen Gechijian ’52 established this fund to assist mechanical engineering students in good standing.

Poonam and Subrata Ghosh ’90G Scholarship
Poonam and Subrata Ghosh ’90G established this fund to support any deserving students who have demonstrated academic merit and financial need.

Global Perspectives for Humanities Exploration Fund*
Tracey Graffam-Dickson ’93 established this fund as a member of the Friends of the Salzburg Exchange Program founded by Dr. Josef Roggenbauer. It will support activities in the McGillicudy Humanities Center on global views.

Goode Family Computer Science Scholarship Fund
Established by Jane Harding Goode ’61 to assist computer science majors, preferably from a Maine school who demonstrate leadership in the advancement of women in business and technology.

John “Jake” Jakubowycz Gordon ’65 and Pamela Baldwin Gordon Scholarship
Jake Gordon established this fund to provide financial assistance to students who are graduates with academic merit and financial need from a Maine high school and are majoring in: special education, autism spectrum disorder, wildlife ecology, or ecology and environmental sciences.

Kenneth Emery Gordon and Susan Pongonis Gordon Scholarship Fund*
Kenneth ’71 and Susan Pongonis Gordon ’70 established this fund to assist Maine students with need, preferably engineering technology majors.

Virginia Barnes Grogean, M.D. ’63 and Thomas Grogean established this fund to assist students with need, preferably engineering technology majors.

Bruce ’69, ’71G and Kristen Anderson Gurall ’69 established this fund for deserving Maine students, preferably graduates of Foxcroft Academy or Piscataquis County high schools.

Dr. Philip A. Hall ’53 and Joan Hall Scholarship Fund*
Dr. Philip Hall ’53, a former science teacher initially inspired by Dean Mark Shibles, and his wife Joan, established this scholarship to encourage and support prospective science teachers. Recipients shall be junior or senior science education majors, preferably from Maine.

Created to honor Susan J. Hunter, Ph.D., Sc.D.,D.P.S., ’50H, UMaine’s first woman president, this fund will provide scholarship assistance to students with financial need and/or academic merit who are graduates of Maine high schools.

Iammatteo Family Fund*
Dr. Matthew Iammatteo ’81, former UMaine football team member, established this fund for the general support of the football program.

Kleczyk/Strout Family Scholarship Fund*
Ewa Kleczyk, Ph.D. ’01, ’03G and James Strout established this fund for economics graduate students. First preference will be given to graduates of high schools outside of the United States and second preference to graduates from Penobscot County high schools.

Kuhl-Lakin Honors in Engineering Scholarship Fund*
Benjamin Lakin, Ph.D. ’03 and his wife, Laura Kuhl, Ph.D., established this fund for research fellowships to students in both an engineering and Honors College curricula.

John E. Madigan Sr. and Georgianna B. Madigan Scholarship Fund*
Timothy ’77 and Christine O’Connor Madigan ’77 established this fund in memory of Tim’s parents. This fund will assist Maine student leaders with need who participated in a scouting program.

Carole Cassidy Matthews Scholarship
Lois Cassidy Shands ’55 established this fund in memory of her beloved sister, Carole Cassidy Matthews ’66, to assist English majors.

McElwain and Jamison Scholarship Fund
Greg Jamison ’72 and his wife Elizabeth McElwain Jamison ’74 established this fund to support students, with a preference for graduates of the Caribou High School or Gardiner Area High School.

McGonagle Family Scholarship Fund
Tim McGonagle ’96 established this fund for students with need, preferably graduates of Cheverus High School, Portland High School, or Thornton Academy, nontraditional students living in Maine, or students from Cumberland or York counties.

Shawn McKenna Sigma Phi Epsilon Maine Alpha Leadership Fund
Members of the Sigma Phi Epsilon Maine Alpha and Volunteer Corporation Board established this fund in memory of fellow brother, Shawn Mckenna ’77, who was instrumental in developing The Balanced Man Program, a leadership initiative for Sig Ep brothers. This fund will assist members with costs associated with the Sigma Phi Epsilon leadership and educational programs.

Paul G. Meyer ’58 and Carolyn M. Meyer Scholarship Fund*
Established by Paul ’58 and Carolyn Meyer as a way to give back and provide scholarship support, this fund helps civil engineering or construction engineering technology majors, with a preference to high school graduates of Glovesville, N.Y. or from Maine and/or New England.

Tammy and Jeff Mills, President/CEO of the University of Maine Foundation, established this fund to provide general assistance to the Collins Center for the Arts.

John M. Murray Scholarship*
John Murray ’80, U.S. Navy Captain (retired), established this fund to assist nontraditional in-state students with need.

Park Street Scholarship Fund
Anonymous donors established this scholarship to assist first-year students studying forest resources. The recipients must be in good academic standing and be graduates of a Maine high school or a high school in northern New England.

Adam Perron ’07 Ecology & Environmental Sciences (EES) Field Study Scholarship*
Mark Anderson and Lorraine Ostergren established this fund to help defray the cost of attending field study camps for ecology and environmental sciences students. The fund has been named in honor of Adam Perron ’07, an ecology and environmental sciences major, who was teaching at Lakes Region Middle School in Naples, Maine, when he was killed in an automobile accident in 2016.

Planetarium and Observatory Technology Fund
An anonymous donor established this fund to support the maintenance and replacement of equipment and other technology needs of the planetarium and observatory.

Trish Riley ’73, ’78G Scholarship Fund*
Trish Riley ’73, ’78G, the first woman elected president of the Student Government, established this fund to assist deserving students with need who are graduates of Main high schools.

James L. Robbins ’67 and Ann Sohns Robbins ’71, ’03G School of Forest Resources Excellence Fund*
James ’67 and Ann Sohns Robbins ’71, ’03G, multi-generational entrepreneurs of Robbins Lumber, established this fund to provide excellence in the School of Forest Resources.

School Field Trip Fund
An anonymous donor established this fund to support field trip costs for public school children’s visits to Emera Astronomy Center and Jordan Planetarium, as well as other UMaine museums to enhance their learning experience.

Herbert C. Scribner, Jr. Marine Sciences Educational Fund*
Friends and family of Herb Scribner ’71 established this fund in honor of Herb’s accomplishments resulting in the first tidal power company in the Americas to be connected to the grid. The fund will support fieldwork and other academic activities beyond the curriculum for students in the marine sciences.

Sigma Nu Fraternity Overlook Bench Fund
The Delta Nu Property Association of Sigma Nu established this fund in honor of the proud tradition of the fraternity. It will provide maintenance for the Sigma Nu Fraternity Overlook Bench, located near the original fraternity house.

Wickham Skinner, former UMaine system trustee, established this fund to recognize liberal arts faculty members whose scholarly accomplishments have contributed substantially to the humanities.

Douglas Smith, former chair of the University of Maine Foundation Board, and his wife, Cartha, established this fund to assist graduates of Foxcroft Academy majoring in business, forestry, engineering, science, math or economics.

Walk ’68, ’73G and Ellen Greig Stinson ’68, both of whom are former UMaine Foundation Board chairs, established this fund to assist STEM students who graduated from a Maine high school.
