Advanced Structures & Composites Center Director’s Endowment
This fund will provide unrestricted support of the Advanced Structures & Composites Center in honor of Dr. Habib Dagher.
Mahalakshmi Ayyagari Engineering Scholarship
Murthy Ayyagari ‘75 established this fund in celebration of his mother, who inspired his and his siblings’ academic achievement. First preference will be given to students majoring in engineering who are graduates of Maine high schools.
Pamela L. Beal ’69 Scholarship
This fund will support deserving students majoring in education in their junior or senior year who have graduated from a Maine high school.
Gerard M. Belisle Scholarship
This fund was established by Jerry’s family to assist deserving students who are graduates of Biddeford High School with a preference to students involved in athletics, school organizations, and/or the community.
Jack Bicknell Football Fund
Friends and former football players established this fund to honor former Head Football Coach Jack Bicknell. Proceeds from the fund will support the UMaine football program.
Russell S. Bodwell University Distinguished Professorship
Russ Bodwell ’44 established this fund to recruit and retain outstanding teachers and scholars in the civil and environmental engineering program.
Harold H. Brown “Brownie” Eastern States Legacy Fund
The Maine 4-H Foundation established this fund in Brownie’s honor to support the statewide Eastern States program of Cooperative Extension.
Bunyan, Hegedus, Morse Inspiration Fund
Established by family and friends of Carly K. Bunyan ’06, James W. Hegedus ’05, and Rhett Morse, former UMaine track and cross country student-athletes who overcame adversity and achieved academic success, this fund will support the Men’s and Women’s Track and Field and Cross Country Programs.
Douglas B. Burdick ’68 Scholarship
Doug Burdick ’68, ’74, ’88G established this fund to assist students in the College of Natural Sciences, Forestry, and Agriculture.
Casco Systems Scholarship
Casco Systems founder and president, Kevin Mahoney, established this fund to assist students majoring in electrical engineering technology.
Gerard S. Cassidy ’80 Capital Markets Training Laboratory Endowment Fund
Mr. Cassidy established this fund to support the Gerard S. Cassidy Capital Markets Training Laboratory at the Maine Business School.
Chandrasekar Do Fund
Anh Hoai Do ’08 and Priyanth Chandrasekar ’07 established this scholarship to assist students who actively contribute to student life activities on campus, preferably electrical engineering students.
Class of 2001 Scholarship
This fund will assist students with a preference for members of, or descendants of members of the Class of 2001.
Class of 2006 Scholarship
This fund will assist students with need with a preference for members of, or descendants of members of the Class of 2006.
Class of 2009 Scholarship
This fund will assist students who demonstrate need with a preference for descendants of members of the Class of 2009.
Class of 2017 Scholarship
Members of the Class of 2017 established this scholarship to assist deserving students, with a preference for those who are direct descendants of the members of the Class of 2017.
Claude F. Clement 4-H Scholarship
The Maine 4-H Foundation established this scholarship to honor Claude Clement, one of the founders and presidents of the Pine Tree State 4-H Foundation, to support a student who participated in Maine 4-H.
Gene S. Cranch Nursing Scholarship
Gene Cranch ’49 established this fund with a bequest to assist students majoring in nursing.
Linda Stevens DiMillo Memorial Scholarship
After Linda passed away in 2015, her family established this fund in her memory to assist first-year students from Caribou High School.
Karen Hatch Gagne National 4-H Congress Legacy Fund
The Maine 4-H Foundation created this fund in honor of Karen Gagne to support the National 4-H Congress program of Cooperative Extension.
Edwin L. and Barbara M. Giddings Alumni House Endowment Fund
Edwin Giddings ’33 and Barbara Giddings ’37 established this fund with a charitable remainder unitrust to assist with the operation and maintenance of the Buchanan Alumni House, particularly the Clifford G. McIntire ’30 Room.

John Gordon ’65 established this fund to assist students with financial need from Maine or Connecticut majoring in education or history.

John Gower ’52 and his wife Marie established this fund to assist undergraduate students who exhibit financial need.
Norma Hardison 4-H Club Creativity Legacy Fund
The Maine 4-H Foundation established this fund to honor Norma Hardison and support creativity grants to 4-H Club programs of Cooperative Extension.

Katherine and Mark Haskell ’82 established this fund to assist Honors College students, preferably those majoring in Political Science.
Thomas C. Higgins, Sr. First-Year Scholarship
Russ Bodwell ’44 and Barbara Bodwell ’45, ’44H established this fund to honor Thomas Higgins, who enrolled in the College of Engineering in 1912. Thomas was the father of their friend Ruth Higgins Horsman ’45. First preference will be to assist first-year students.
Ellen Keough Hodosh, Ph.D., Graduate Fellowship Fund
Ralph Hodosh ’78 Ph.D. established this fund in loving memory of his wife, who had a distinguished career in the medical research field. Awards from the fund will support graduate students in the School of Biology and Ecology. Stephen E. King Chair in Literature Endowment
The Harold Alfond Foundation established this fund in honor of author Stephen King ’70, ’87 Hon. L.H.D. for his substantial body of work and creative impact. The fund will support an outstanding scholar or faculty member in the English Department.
Barbara S. Knowlton Senior Alumni Scholarship
This fund was established with a bequest from Barbara Knowlton ’48, who passed away this year, as well as with memorial gifts from family and friends. The scholarship will assist students through the Senior Alumni Scholarship with a preference for nontraditional students and/or nursing majors.
Gwen E. Knowlton Scholarship
Gwen Knowlton ’56 established this scholarship with a bequest to assist students who, among other requirements, demonstrate a willingness to be involved in school activities and/or community service.
David S. Lamb Fund
Friends and family of distinguished journalist David Lamb ’62 established this fund in his memory. It will be fully funded with a bequest and used to support the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
Kristin M. Langellier & Eric E. Peterson Scholarship
This fund was established to honor Kristin and Eric, professors who taught communication courses at UMaine from 1980 to 2016. The fund will assist deserving junior and senior students majoring in communication.
Dr. H. Margaret Larsen, former mathematics professor, established this fund with a bequest to care for the items she left to the Hudson Museum.

Friends and colleagues of Professor Lewis established this fund in celebration of his distinguished career to assist students majoring in art.

Family and friends of former Associate Dean of Student Activities Bill Lucy ’71G established this fund after Bill passed away in 2015 to assist students who demonstrate extraordinary student leadership and service to the university.
Maine NEW (National Education for Women) Leadership Quasi-Endowment
Supporters of Maine NEW Leadership at the Margaret Chase Smith Policy Center established this fund to support the NEW Leadership Program, which empowers women to pursue roles in government locally and beyond.
Lincoln David Michaud Scholarship
Lola R. Orcutt ’69H established this fund in memory of her brother who passed away in 2015. Awards from the fund will assist students who graduated from Bridgton Academy and are studying in the College of Natural Sciences, Forestry, and Agriculture.
Molecular and Biomedical Sciences Faculty Scholarship
This fund was initiated by Department Chair Robert Gundersen to assist deserving students in biochemistry, microbiology and molecular and cellular biology.
Donna Thibodeau Mundy ’71 and James H. Mundy ’65, ’70G, ’95 Ph.D. Fund
Donna and James Mundy established this scholarship for first-year students who graduated from a Maine high school in good academic standing and who demonstrate financial need.
The “New Writing Series” Fund
Henry L. P. “Hank” Schmelzer ’65 and his wife Cynthia E. Livingston established this fund to strengthen and provide financial assistance to the New Writing Series program co-sponsored by the National Poetry Foundation and English Department at the University of Maine.

This fund was established by Hilda Hutchins McCollum, and is intended to provide support to the John I. and Elizabeth E. Patches Chamber Music Series.
Theda Parker/K.C. Lovejoy 4-H Scholarship
The Maine 4-H Foundation established this fund to honor Theda and K.C. for their loyal support of 4-H. The scholarship will assist deserving students who have participated in Maine 4-H.

Ellen Pratt Flaherty ’71 and Michael Flaherty ’72 established this fund in loving memory of Ellen’s mother to assist students majoring in studio art who demonstrate academic merit and financial need.

Aaron Putnam ’42 established this fund through a bequest to provide general support of the Mechanical Engineering Department at UMaine.
Robert W. and Marjory D. Ramsdell Fund for H.O.M.E., Inc.
Robert W. and Marjory D. Ramsdell Fund for Upward Bound Robert Ramsdell ’49 and his wife, Marjory, established both of these funds with a planned gift. One fund will assist H.O.M.E., Inc. and the other fund will provide summer research stipends for Upward Bound students.
Adrien Lanthier Ringuette Franco-American Center Library Fund
Celeste Ringuette established this fund in memory of her husband, who had a life-long interest in Franco-American history. Monies from the fund will support the Adrien Lanthier Ringuette Library at the Franco-American Center on the UMaine campus.
Tom and Sally Savage Hockey Challenge Fund
Tom Savage ’68 and Sally Savage have a $1 million challenge grant to match gifts from UMaine hockey alumni and coaches to the Grant Standbrook Maine Hockey Forever Fund and other hockey endowments to help strengthen Maine’s hockey program.
David and Debra Scott Scholarship
David Scott ’78G and Debra Scott ’78 established this fund in support of students doing substantial projects involving community engagement and/or economic development.
Wayland A. Shands, Jr. Agriculture Scholarship
Lois Shands established this fund in loving memory of her husband. Both are members of the class of 1955. Awards from the fund will assist students studying agriculture.
Irving W. Small Education Scholarship
Lawrence Small, Ph.D. ’48, ’51G established this fund with a bequest in honor of his father, who was an educator in Maine. The fund will provide financial support to deserving UMaine students majoring in education.

UCU established this scholarship to show its appreciation to its members. Awards will be given to a first-year student at each University System campus and Maine Maritime Academy, who are members in good standing.

Gloria and Walter Verrill ’49 established this fund through a planned gift to assist deserving students studying civil engineering at the University of Maine.
Kathy M. Wadleigh Scholarship
Kathleen Wadleigh established this scholarship fund to provide support to students participating in women’s basketball who demonstrate sportsmanship, academic merit, community engagement and athletic leadership.
Wages Computer Engineering Scholarship
Traditionally underrepresented students majoring in computer engineering will benefit from this fund, established by Margaret and Eric Wages ’01.
Mette Arup Watt Studio Printmaking Fund
