Olga, who is a native of Burundi, has been studying at the University of Maine for the past three years, studying marketing with a concentration in international business, and dreaming of studying abroad in Germany. Due to financial Remeshahardship, she almost would not have been able to make her dream come true; the scholarship Olga received allowed her to follow her dreams and go to Germany.

Olga hopes that this opportunity in Germany will open many doors for her after her time at the University of Maine. She plans on working with non-profit organizations that focus on helping orphanages or needy children and families who struggle with consistent housing in different countries.

“I believe my experiences in recent years and, especially my studies at the University of Maine will enable me to become an effective resource and advocate for children around the world. I am eager to pay forward the support I have had and continue to have from others”

She is the recipient of the Dorris Berry Norton Study Abroad Scholarship.
