After starting her graduate degree as soon as she completed her undergraduate, Marissa, a graduate student in the Food Science and Human Nutrition Master’s Program, was faced with financial hardship. Receiving scholarship support has lifted that burden off her shoulders and she was able to dedicate herself to her studies even more. After completing her program Marissa hopes to work in outpatient dietetics and combine her knowledge of nutrition with her passion for fitness and desire to travel.

“Without the support of such advocates for education as yourselves, pursuing such ambitious goals, especially right out of undergrad, would be much less feasible. For all of the opportunity and encouragement receiving this scholarship provides, I thank you very much.”

“The University of Maine Foundation scholarships are wonderful opportunities to help students, like it has helped me, not only ease the financial element of pursuing education but also offer encouragement and support for student’s past and future efforts as an educated member of society.”

Marissa is the recipient of the Lunder Scholars Fund for the 2016-2017 academic year.
